About Alex

Hi, I'm Alex — the Trans/Non‑Binary counsellor behind this practice.

A BACP‑registered integrative counsellor working with LGBTQ+ clients and neurodivergent adults across the UK. This is who I am, why I do this work, and how I came to it.

My story

I came to this work the long way round.

I spent the first part of my life in roles where I turned up, did the work and went home. I wasn’t invested, and I wasn’t thriving. Like many neurodivergent people, I wasn’t aware that I had ADHD and that was why I was struggling with a lot of tasks, such as executive functioning and emotional regulation. It took time to learn who I was, my own sexuality and gender identity, and to come to a place of self-acceptance. I’m guessing some of this might sound familiar.

Through my own therapy, I felt my life changed and I wanted to become the therapist that others can go to when they need to talk through what it is to be LGBTQ+ in the world, and someone who understands ADHD, Autism and other types of neurodivergence.

I qualified as an Integrative Counsellor in 2022 and have been registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have worked since with a wide range of clients, many LGBTQ+, many neurodivergent, many simply tired of feeling misunderstood by others and unable to be truly themselves without explanation.

My approach

What I believe about therapy.

A short version of the values that run underneath every session I offer.

01.

You’re not the problem.

Your identity, your brain, your way of being — none of it is something we are here to fix. Often the work is in untangling the messages you’ve absorbed that suggest otherwise.

02.

I follow your lead.

You set the pace. You choose what we talk about. I bring curiosity, training, and warmth — not an agenda for who you should become.

03.

Lived experience matters.

You won’t need to explain what dysphoria feels like, or why “just write it down” doesn’t solve ADHD. I already know. We start somewhere more useful.

Training & credentials

A bit of the formal stuff.

I’m a fully qualified Integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. My BACP registration number is 396193, which you can verify on the BACP register at any time. I am also listed on Psychology Today.

Training and ongoing development
  • Undergraduate Degree in Psychology and Counselling
  • Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Level 5)
  • Continuing professional development in LGBTQ+ affirming practice
  • Continuing professional development in working with ADHD and neurodivergence in adults

Ethics and confidentiality

I work to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. That means clear contracting at the start of our work together, written confidentiality, secure handling of any notes, and a commitment to ongoing supervision so that the work stays accountable and safe.

“What I want, more than anything, is for you to feel less alone with whatever you’re carrying.”

Outside of the therapy room

I binge watch TV shows more than I should, enjoy walking in nature and like to spend time with my friends. I am also a person, before I am a counsellor, which I think matters. You’re not coming to see a job title. You’re coming to see a real human.
